First Good Meal

The lovely and longsuffering wife is up and around. The rotator cuff surgery and bicep tendon repair along with a nice bone spur removal, went very well. She is off the Percocet and doing Physical Therapy.
She is ready for a decent meal……..so

Seasoned chicken boobs and a bed of rice

Mix of chicken and mushroom soup, paprika, cream, onion soup mix, garlic, water

Get some side toast ready. Olive oil, garlic, tomatoes, oregano, cheese.

An hour in the oven, ready for cheese and roasted peppers.

Good Stuff

40 S&W Day

A couple of 40 S&W guns at the range.
I don’t have many 40 S&W guns, but I have a a Beretta PX4 Storm that I sent to David Olhasso for an action job, stealth decocker, and a D spring.

Also an Sig P239. Small and light, kicks like a 40S&W though.

Everything was at 10 yards standing. I’ve never been a fan of the traditional double action of the Sig and Beretta guns.
But to quote Quigley….”I said I never had much use for one. Never said I didn’t know how to use one”

I’m Hungry, Rest Day Cooking

The lovely and long suffering wife says….”I got some chicken out of the freezer”

Onions, peppers, and mushrooms

Everybody loves Alfredo sauce. Add the veg and fungus.

Add the chicken back in.

Add the tomatoes last as they are fragile.

Over spaghetti. Mama is the pasta queen, I don’t mess with it.
she always says “you know how to boil water” and I tell her…..”yeah, but it’s so hard to tell when it’s done”

Good Stuff

9mm Day

Contrary to popular belief, I do have some 9mms. Took three of the large ones to the range.

S&W M&P full size with a grip chop and stippled to a compact size frame.

An old Glock 17 with a grip chopped to G-19 size

And the Springfield Armory Custom Shop Professional model in 9mm.

As always, everything was shot at 10 yards unsupported.

Any day at the range is better than any day at work.

Wheelgun Day

Took some wheelguns to the range. 38s, 357s, 45 Colts.
All shooting at 10 yards (30 ft) standing unsupported and double action.

S&W 627PC. 125 grain SJHP, 8 shooter.

Pinned and recessed S&W model 19 Combat Magnum. This thing is over 50 years old so I don’t shoot magnums in it. But it likes 125 grain 38 +P

Big Boomer. S&W model 25 in 45 Colt. No cowboy loads for this one, 225 grain flat points.
Scary trigger, 6 inch barrel.

“What about playing cards? You always shoot playing cards!”
Ok, here we go. 5 shots at 10 yards on a card.

Any day at the range is better than any day at work.

Gods caliber

If the Lord Jesus is a shooter (and I have yet to see anything to say he isn’t) then he shoots Gods caliber…45ACP.

Shooting a Sig 220 Carry with a K trigger and an old Glock 30 that I carry often.

Everything is at 10 yards, standing unsupported with 230 grain Winchester jacketed hollow points.

For us lessor creatures, mercy has given us a 9mm.
everything is 115 grain FMJ.
Walther PPSM2 and my newest FN 503

Last time I took the Walther to the range, the front sight was loose. Now it’s fixed

Generally, these little autos are difficult to shoot well. But the trigger on this FN is really smooth and easy to run well.

BOOM! Therapy

And nothing goes BOOM like a 45 Colt.

Remington replica from Uberti, and a S&W model 25. Both in 45 Colt.

Hey Baldwin…..this is how you shoot these old dogs. 250 grain lead target loads.
Unfortunately, I didn’t bring enough targets. So you will see some stickers.

This thing shoots very well.

Not a carry gun by any stretch. But maybe a hunting gun in a pinch, so the playing card test with 230 grain Critical Defense.

Everything was 10 yards standing, unsupported. Double action of the S&W, the Remington clone is Single Action.

The Allen Family Hillbilly Paella

This is the Paella that has evolved over the years.

First, chicken and smoked sausage.

Set the meat aside. Start the onions, peppers, chickpeas, garlic, Paella seasoning, saffron, diced tomatoes.

Two cups of chicken stock, one cup of Arborio rice. Boil it.

Add the meat back and simmer until rice is done and the stock has been absorbed.

When the rice is done, you’re done.
I’m not much of a baker, but I made the condensed milk cake and fruit with carmel sauce.

Good Stuff

Full Size 9MM

I did the small 9mm last time. This time the full sized ones.

Glock 17

S&W M&P 9

Here it is, SA Custom Shop Professional Model.

124 grain

It really shoots 147 grain better.

Heres the test. Five shots at ten yards on a playing card.

All shooting at ten yards , standing unsupported. Any day at the range is a good day.

I can’t do much, but I can do two things

I can pull a smooth trigger and I can cook for myself.

Mini 9mm day at the range. I picked up an FN 503 this week, and took it for its first range day. Along with my summer carry gun, a Walther PPS.

all shooting was done at 10 yards with 124 grain target loads. Standing unsupported.

I definitely like the longer mag better

Fun stuff

that’s why I carry it, slow and deliberate to “make the shot”

Now for the cooking for myself….

Flat Iron steak with BBQ glaze and carmelized pears.
